Special Tree - Tim

Special Tree:

Island Bay is a beautiful long beach. Cliffs made beautiful shapes for us to admire, waves hitting against the rocky seashore. Me and my 2 best friends had a lot of memories there. There was this one tree where the trunks formed into different. I turned around to my friends and said "This could be our tree, our only tree". The Tree connected with a big cliff which we usually climb up on and see the most amazing view of Island Bay.

We decided to have a little chat on top of the tree. I felt really uncomfortable. The bumps on the tree made it very hard to sit on. The tree bark scraping against my leg, leaving scratches. Soon enough we realised this could be our only tree. We engraved our initials so that when we come back, we will never forget each other. One year later, we barely saw each other, we hadn't visited our tree in months and we grew apart from each other.

Something changed, our parents started talking to each other, we saw each other more. We then reunited with our tree and was surprised our initials, was still there untouched. We laughed, we smiled, we got angry, but at the end of the day we are the bestest friends. Nothing can tear us apart.

Fast Factors: 12 Times Table - Tim

I am testing my knowledge with my Times Table. For me I find the 12 times table more easier than the rest. I am struggling with the 8 times table, so I will be working on that next week. I am happy that I did the 12 times table under 30 seconds.

5W's (Homework T4 W2) - Tim

For this weeks homework, room 5 had to do a DLO about the 5W's or the 5 Questions. Why, Where, When, What, Who. I have based each slide on each of those questions. I have also put some example's to see what I was meaning

x7 Knowledge - Tim

To help me remember my 7 Times table I have done these strategies based around the 7 time table. I think I did good, I never do these strategies by myself, I always have a buddy, so we can get through the strategy.

7x Knowledge - Tim

7x Knowledge Poster. Room 5 had to create a 7 times table to help people who have trouble figuring out the 7 times table. This could help me and other people look at this and find different ways of solving 7 times table. I have included a group story, skip counting, repeated addition, Aframe, T-Chart and Factors and Products.

Revision Problem (2) - Tim

Revision Problems. This is my 2nd Revision Problem. I had to figure out how much Pancakes Halatoa ate. My answer was 12. I am not sure if I was right but I think that I did a pretty good job figuring it out by myself. The Question:

Halatoa ate twice as many pancakes as Sebastian at lunchtime. Sebastian had another 3 pancakes for Afternoon Tea. Altogether they ate 18 pancakes. How many Pancakes did Halatoa eat.

Ukulele Sessions: Tim, Fine and Yvette

Ukulele Sessions:

Since Mrs Eeles is unable to teach music. Me, Fine and Yvette decided to teach Ukulele to Room 5 (including Mrs Anderson). We tought them the basic chords like C, G, F, Am, A. We taught them all of the chords. Our First Song was Kiwi Ukulele. Before we could play the song, we had to teach them the chords. When they got the chords we went ahead and played our first song. Everyone played really well and decided to move onto the next song Islands. Everyone was excited to learn Islands because they knew it. We decided to spilt the groups up to teach them the plucking. It was very simple and they got it like that. After that we played Islands and it looked like everyone enjoyed. It really looked like Mrs Anderson mastered the plucking for Islands. Me, Fine and Yvette decided to make the choose which song they wanted to play. Obviously it was Islands. Me, Fine and Yvette we were impressed and we really wanted to teach them more.

Shake Out: Tim and Evelyn

Shake Out. Shake Out is a national earthquake drill when the clock hits 9:15, the nation has to drop, cover, hold. Me and Evelyn created a presentation based on the earthquake drill. In the presentation we talked about what Shake out and our experience in what we had to do when the earthquake drill happened.

Story Swap Task: Tim and Juanita

Story Swap Task:

I watched as the abandoned house sits at the bottom of the hill. It felt like it was staring at me. I desperately to the front of the door, wondering if I could go in. I open the door. I heard the door creak. I walked inside, the wood creaking as I walk on it. It made me realise the ghosts were real. I was urging to go outside, but I just had to go in and see for my self. I saw a empty room. It felt like the empty room was waiting for me to go inside.

When I walked in I saw a black shadow following me. I looked around the room, wondering how the shadow came to be. The I carried on to look for things. There were staircases leading up to the second floor. I walked up to get a better look upstairs. I saw as the bedrooms were destroyed, bathrooms that had a strange smell. It smelt like someone died in there. I continued on and I saw a library room. I walked inside and heard a voice, looking around to see if the voice was real. I spotted a shadow again so I said "who are you" and "what do you want". It didn't respond.

Story Swap Task. Story Swap Task is an activity where two people have to be pairs. Mrs Anderson has to show a picture to us and we have to write a story based on that picture. But we have to write each sentence and the pair has to carry on the sentence. We had to do this under 15 minutes. The thing I took for this was realising my mistakes. It is very easy to spot other people mistakes but it is difficult to spot our mistakes. So this activity really helped us realise our mistakes.

Grid Challenge - Tim

Room 5 played a game which we called the Grid Challenge. First we have 2 dices. You have to roll both of them at the same time. The 2 numbers that come up are the numbers that will be the times table question on the grid. We have to measure out the grid. The Bigger number is the width and the smallest number is the length. The point of the game is to fill up your grid in under 10 minutes. When the time is up we have to count up the squares that we didn't use and see who got the least out of all of us. My partner was John and John won. I had 39 squares I didn't use and John had 16 squares that he didn't use. This is a very fun and educational way to help us with our times table.
These are the results that John and I got. As you can see we filled it up a lot.
