Kiwi Sport: Run, Jump, Throw - Tim

Run, Jump, Throw

Today at Run, Jump, Throw. We learnt about Long and High Jump, we had to learn 4 skills, to have the right balance in Long and High Jump. We had to learn how to swing our arms in long jump, so we can jump easier. We also, bent our knees, so we can land with stumbling. When we are jumping we have to look up, because if we look down, we will fall down. When landing, land with two feets, to get a steady balance. So Swinging Arms, Bent Knees, Looking up and Landing with two feet, to get the right jump. We also practiced our two feet landing in a spot game. right After the game we had another session about High Jump. When we are jumping, we have to have a slightly bent knee, to jump over the pole without it falling over. Running from an angle, helps jumping over the pole easier. We also learnt a trick called the scissors kick. Scissors Kick is have your leg slightly bent. The scissors have to be quick. The leg you jump over the pole first is the arm that has to be swinged.

Hockey (1st Session) - Tim

Hockey:

Today we did hockey. Room 5 went along to the court and played some hockey. We played a quick game of follow the leader without the hockey sticks and with the hockey sticks. I had really fun playing the game. The point of the game follow the leader is the leader has to try and lose their other teammates, and the other teammates have to keep up to them. Then after we played follow the leader, we learnt some basic techniques (like holding the stick properly, how to move it side to side) we have to learn to play hockey. Then after that we had a number on game of hockey where the coach calls out a number (for Example: 2) the first 2 people of each line has to run around their goal and try get the hockey ball to the other goal. I went about 3 times and then that was the last game of the session. I really enjoyed playing Hockey, and I can't wait for the next hockey session
